Transmission Service Tips: Prevent Transmission Repair!

Automobiles are generally built these days to provide many miles of service. However, you will eventually start experiencing shifting problems if you keep your vehicle long enough. The transmission is one of the most important components of your automobile. It's main function is to carry the engine's power to the drive axle by using different gears. Without these gears helping the engine rotate at different speeds, the car would only go forward in one gear. To help prevent an untimely and costly transmission repair, make sure you follow the transmission service schedule recommended in the owner's manual.

If you are looking for Transmission Repair Milton-Freewater OR your search can be over with our Wentland  Diesel Auto Repair Milton-Freewater OR . Meet us for Engine Repair Milton-Freewater OR to have safe driving.

Prevent Transmission Repair with these Four Tips:

  • Never shift into Reverse or Park while the engine is running at high RPMs, or until the vehicle comes to a complete stop. This could eventually result in a major transmission repair.
  • Have the fluid level and quality checked on a regular basis. Vehicles with a dipstick will need to be checked by a qualified mechanic. If the fluid level is too low, there may be a leak that will require a transmission repair. Don't let a small leak turn into a bigger leak!
  • Change the fluid as recommended in your owner's manual or when it becomes too dark (more brown than red) or dirty.
  • Replace the fluid with the same type as specified in the owner's manual or on the dipstick.
  • In many cars, damage can occur if towed with the traction wheels on the road. When towing a heavy trailer, consider installing an additional fluid cooler and change the fluid more often. Consult your owner's manual for the correct towing procedures.
